Just Another Day In The Workshop...

This sculpture was an experiment to see how much weight of paper I can apply before the structure gives in and falls over. I think if I made a later scale it would of worked abit better as it would have a larger surface area to balance.

Just Another Day In The Workshop...

Below I created this sculpture by cutting 3 slots and platting them as if they where hair. I learnt that after a certain time the paper because stronger and harder to manipulate. It also holds its form well.

Just Another Day In The Workshop...

With this paper sculpture I cut strips into it and crossed them over. The reason I did this experiment was to note the tension of the paper and the strength. This will be useful for me later on as I will have a better idea on would much I can manipulate the paper.

From 2D to 3D

With the designs below I wanted to demonstrate how a 2D shape can be transformed into a 3D object. I did this experimentation with paper because I will be looking through images on a 2D form and I need to know if I can convert them into 3D objects

Repetitive Shapes using cutting methods

For this design I can up with a method where shapes can be formed using simple cuts.

Paper Manipulation

Paper is a material that we all take for granted, below is a couple of models where I have tried to express folds and cuts to manipulate paper to perform repetitive shapes.

Traped?

This design was made with the method of cutting and folding. I used black card as I felt that it gives a good impression of bars. For this design card was the best material as it is harder and can hold its form once folded.
